Jeff Katz Fired From WBT ” But It Was Based On Business Reasons ”

Ultra-Right Wing Radio Host Jeff Katz was fired from Charlotte, NC radio station WBT-1110 AM this week. WBT Vice President and General Manager Rick Jackson and Program Director Bill White spent 3 hours on the air during the 3 -6 PM old Jeff Katz time slot Tuesday, December 2, 2008 taking calls from listeners. I would have to say it was admirable to see a couple of managers willing to stand up for a decision by taking on criticism in such a public format. It was pretty funny because Bill White was playing producer and running the board and fumbled around and made some mistakes, which made it fun to listen too. Some callers were not happy with the decision that Jeff was fired and said they would no longer listen to the station. But I would have to say they were in the minority. Most people that called were happy that Jeff was being replaced.
Bottom line is not about pressure from about any group. Its not about the hate that Jeff spewed about Muslims, African Americans, Immigrants, or the Poor. WBT is a big business. The Jeff Katz Show is number 5 in the stations target demographic. Jeff wasn’t what WBT was looking for, and wasn’t bringing in the right numbers because if he did, he would still be on the air. Personally, I don’t care why he is gone, I am just glad he is. Hate has no place in Charlotte.

Jeff Katz is Fired From WBT and the People Rejoice

Jeff Katz is no longer the 3pm-6pm host of the WBT afternoon show. Mr. Katz was a polarizing figure ever since his arrival in Charlotte, NC a couple of years ago. His brand of hate politics will not be missed by me or a large segment of the Charlotte region. Hats off to the management of WBT.

Tara Servatius Named
New Afternoon Host at WBT AM & FM

Charlotte, NC (December 1, 2008): Greater Media announces Tara Servatius has been named the new Monday through Friday, 3pm – 6pm afternoon drive on-air host at WBT AM & FM in Charlotte, North Carolina. She will begin her new on-air duties on Monday, December 8th, 2008.

Servatius has been the host of The Tara Servatius Show on weekdays from 9pm to midnight on NewsTalk1110 WBT. The program is a mixture of local and national commentary, interviews and forensic journalism from the perspective of a life-long Charlottean.

She has won more than two dozen state and national journalism awards for column writing and investigative reporting while she was a reporter in the Charlotte market for The Leader and Creative Loafing newspapers. Among her most recent was a first place news enterprise reporting award from the North Carolina Press Association about the weaknesses in Charlotte’s overburdened court system. She’s a brilliant investigative reporter and effectively constructs her views based on real case studies and supporting data.”

Rick Jackson and WBT Program Director Bill White will be on air Tuesday, December 2nd at 3pm to discuss the programming change and answer listener questions.

WBT AM & FM is owned by Greater Media Charlotte, Inc., and is a subsidiary of Greater Media, Inc., the parent company of 23 AM and FM radio stations in the Boston, Charlotte, Detroit, New Jersey and Philadelphia markets. US Secret Service Blames Sarah Palin for Death Threats Against President Elect Obama

According to an article in the conservative paper the London Telegraph, Sarah Palin’s hateful rhetoric is being blamed for a huge increase in the number of death threats against the president elect.

“The Secret Service warned the Obama family in mid October that they had seen a dramatic increase in the number of threats against the Democratic candidate, coinciding with Mrs Palin’s attacks.”

There have been two assassination attempts broken up and various death threats, the majority being in the white supremacist community.

“Details of the spike in threats to Mr Obama come as a report last week by security and intelligence analysts Stratfor, warned that he is a high risk target for racist gunmen. It concluded: “Two plots to assassinate Obama were broken up during the campaign season, and several more remain under investigation. We would expect federal authorities to uncover many more plots to attack the president that have been hatched by white supremacist ideologues.”

Many believe this may have caused permanent damage to Sarah Palin’s reputation and may hurt any future attempts at a political run.

“Irate John McCain aides, who blame Mrs Palin for losing the election, claim Mrs Palin took it upon herself to question Mr Obama’s patriotism, before the line of attack had been cleared by Mr McCain.”

A McCain Win Will Be Theft : Resistance is Planned

http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/36993

By David Swanson

If your television declares John McCain the president elect on the evening of November 4th, your television will be lying. You should immediately pick up your pre-packed bags and head straight to the White House in Washington, D.C., which we will surround and shut down until this attempt at a third illegitimate presidency is reversed.

A McCain “win” will not be illegitimate because I disagree with his policies, but because he himself has rendered it illegitimate. He and his campaign and allied supporters have sought to illegally remove hundreds of thousands of voters from the rolls, fraudulently registered people as Republicans without their knowledge and against their will, obstructed voter registration drives, falsely warned students against voting where they attend school, falsely accused community groups of voter registration fraud, falsely alleged the widespread existence of voter fraud, and encouraged supporters to falsely believe McCain’s opponent is a foreign terrorist through speeches, recorded phone messages, and flyers. Already in early voting in a number of states there have been cases of votes on electronic machines visibly flipping to McCain or McKinney when intended for Obama. We will see McCain supporters on November 4th challenging people’s right to vote, seeking to force people to vote on provisional ballots, and seeking to have provisional ballots discarded. And we will see electronic vote counts wildly out of step with the most recent polls, although not with exit polls — which we will be denied any access to unless they have been “adjusted” to match the official counts.

Inciting your supporters to violence with racist and religious lies about your opponent, effectively alleging treason on absolutely no basis, should be enough, alone, to disqualify a campaign for the presidency of the United States. Working to block voters from registering should be enough on its own. Any of the dozens of creative forms of vote suppression currently being used by the Republicans should be enough. And allowing votes to be counted on completely unverifiable machines owned and controlled by corporations allied with your party should make the results illegitimate even if plausible. If McCain is declared the “winner,” it will not be plausible, but at this point he has so disgraced himself and our electoral system that he is no longer a legitimate candidate for president regardless of what the polls (themselves fallible, but all we’ve got) say just before election day. Too many people have already been denied the opportunity to even push the buttons and have their votes miscounted. Too much incendiary slander has been let loose. Too much visible vote flipping has already been documented.

If Obama officially wins, McCain is likely to challenge it, charging the Obama campaign with some of the very crimes engaged in by McCain himself. Our reaction should be exactly the same in the event of a McCain challenge as in the event of a McCain “victory.” We should not sit back for even a split second and wonder how it will work out. We should not try to organize a plan on the spur of the moment to travel to key battleground states. We should be prepared already to immediately travel to Washington, D.C., head straight for the White House, occupy Lafayette Square Park, the Ellipse, and surrounding streets, block entrances, and shut the place down until Obama is recognized as the president elect or we are guaranteed a credible election with universal registration and hand-counted paper ballots.

We may be there for days or weeks or months. But we must be there. We must be there by the millions. We must show each other, and the nation, and the world that we have had enough, that we will not stand for one more stolen election, that we will not give in to fear, lies, theft, and intimidation. If they choose to attack our nonviolent gathering of citizens, let them do it right in front of George W. Bush’s White House with the world’s media watching. We will not back down.

I’m not hoping it comes to this, of course. If it doesn’t because the official election results are credible and just, we should celebrate and prepare to lobby our government for real change. But if resistance does not develop because people are too scared and obedient to act, then you’ll still be glad you packed ahead of time, and you might want to look into tickets to Canada.

Colin Powell Ends John McCain’s Campaign on Video

This is probably the last nail in the coffin for the McCain/Palin fiasco. This video shows in great detail how John McCain lost the confidence of General and ex Secretary of State Colin Powell. It also explains why General Powell chose Barack Obama. This is a course on why negative political campaigns don’t seem to work anymore and how they can backfire in a major way. It also shows that General Powell still cares about the American people and still has a few moves left up his sleeve.

John McCain : Broken Promises, More Lies

John McCain promised he would run a clean campaign free from attack ads and sleaze ball politics and would focus on the issues. The video below is the promise he made captured in his own words.

The video below is an attack ad filled with half truths and down right lies. This is the kind of thing John McCain promised not to do. Thus, his promises me nothing.

The video below is an entertaining excerpt from MSNBC that exposes the lies and hypocrisy of the McCain political ads.
